"The Arboreal Chinchime is a small parasite that thrives in the southern forests of the continent of Xikiago. They're known for the high-pitched sounds produced by the shaking of their jingle-bell shaped bodies. Arboreal Chinchimes gather on low laying tree branches waiting for apex predators to walk by, and clamp onto them using their jaw-like appendages. Once a chinchime has clasped onto a target, it begins to produce its signature ring every time the target moves, encouraging nearby chinchimes to mob onto the target, creating a louder collection of ringing sounds as each chinchime joins in the attack. The collective sound produced disables the targets ability to hunt without being noticed, eventually leading it to death by starvation. Once the target dies, they feast on the carcass before returning back onto the branches of trees. Predators who hear carcasses being slowly devoured by chinchimes know too well not to try and steal a piece of the kill, because if they do, chinchimes will crawl onto them, eventually turning them into the next meal."
